SET Sports Tours, have delivered the Masterclass sessions for our touring teams and would like your permission to publish our winning culture as part of their promotional web pages for 2008.

They would also like a link to our family blog, I think that this can only be good for the School and teams involved, however, I would like to ask the parents to comment on this article, if you think it a bad move and do not want your child to take part in this type of publicity.

The Calm after the "Storm"

Well after a very successful week of mixed emotions and game results, all 3 teams come home with victory in each of the Masterclass sessions and Tournament. It was decided by all 3 coaches that instead of just winning they would develop their games into a 2 sided training session, where some of the training would be used in the game.

The Juniors lifting their trophy with a great win against tough opponents, had to be the driving force for the senior team to get their Gold medals and they did not disappoint.

A well drilled senior side scored 1st to take the lead and defended very well, however the Manchester schools team came back and had 3 men jump over the line to give the Webster's Goalie little chance, 1-1 and game on however both teams defended their last 5 minutes to go into a 5 shot penalty shoot out - The rest is History - with Webster's scoring in Sudden Death to win the Tournament outright.

The "Storm" did come at Edinburgh on the way home as the pilot touched down he was taken by surprise, a cross wind blew away at the plane 10m from landing , therefore making the captain take off again at speed.
We were sure that he was on the PlayStation 2 game "Pilot" at the time. The second attempt was pulled off without a hitch.

A delighted Tour Leader after a treble success at Masterclass Tournament in Holland 2007 waiting for the press conference!!!

MacDonald scores the winning penalty in a tense 5 shoot out, at the end of a 1-1 Final game of the tournament, however, the score was still drawn after the 5 shots. Without any doubt after his miss in a previous game, Callum took to the spot with confidence oozing, he drove the penalty home, into the top corner - to win the game after the opposition Captain and Manchester United Schools player, hit Dobbie's gloves with a great thump. The crowd from all 3 schools were cheering and rooting for Webster's as the lads had forged good mates, after playing some magnificent attacking football throughout their stay in Holland. Their reputation as the unknown team is now that of respect and comradeship as the Final was played.

An emphatic win by the boys means that they were also crowned:

We won the player of the Tournament award and week from the Masterclass Coaches.


We are all looking forward to coming home tomorrow and should be back for 3.30pm in the car park at Bellies Brae.

We all look forward to meeting the rest of the school on Monday to share our experience and positive experiences from the tour of Holland 2007.

Morrice gets his goalkeeper of the tournament award as Elder looks on wishing their was one for Goal of the week. A magnificent and unbelievable effort.

Websters Girls Do it in style

Webster’s Girls Remain Unbeaten

Webster’s junior girls team finish off their tour of Holland on Thursday. The match started, it became apparent that the opponents had some good players especially in attach. They created a number of chances in the first 10 minutes causing the Webster’s defence all sorts of problems.

Hart- Winks, Taylor, Jacobson, Burke and Thain rode their luck but eventually managed to weather the storm and formed a basis to work from the energetic midfield, Winters, Dutch, Hamilton and Laing began to take control. A number of great chances were created but unfortunately not taken till live wire Kilcoyne struck in the 20th minute.
Simply the best


WHS lead was doubled shortly after this though Kilcoyne through the re start, Hamilton drove home to make it 3 Kilcoyne completed her hat rick just before half time with another good strike. An unbelievable half time score that did not match the even nature of the game. Despite warnings at half time Webster’s started the 2nd half slowly and immediately lost a goal due to complacency in defence.

This was a wake up call needed to produce on of the finest 2nd halves of football that WHS has experienced, Kilcoyne bagged 3 to finish with 6 and Hamilton 2 to finish with four.
The pick of the bag, however, being a great sweeping move deep inside their own half involving Winter, Laing and Dutch finishing with Hamilton from the edge of the box.

With a strong performance last night and a fine show at training this morning the team went into tonight’s match in a confident mood. The team travelled to F.C. Zoetemeer and it would be fair to say that on arrival the boys were in shock and all of the facilities there. You could not see the furthest pitch from the clubhouse there was so many pitches at the complex. The facilities had three generation, 3 astroturf pitches and 4 grass pitches. Our game was on pitch 1 and it was evident from kick off that it was going to be another good night.
Brough and Smart worked up and down the right flank to great affect providing good possession and support throughout the game. Watson and Ferguson again dominated in the middle and were involved in every play. Thomson and Tinker much like their counterparts on the other wing worked very hard and could not be contained by the opposition.
At centre back positions MacDonald and Basford won ball and initiated every attack with good accurate passing.

Ansari, Farquharson and Day came on early to good affect and continued on from their performance of the previous night. Up front Cameron and Reid reeked havoc and the opposition had no answer to their subtle movement patterns. Dobbie remains untested yet but outstanding performances in training bode well for tougher games tomorrow at the tournament. The first half only saw 6 goals go in but the opposition keeper made some world class saves to keep the score down. In the second half goal after goal was rained in and allowed an opportunity to further implement techniques learned in training today.

During the second half a number of players were played out of position to give them experience of different roles and duties on the pitch. This worked to great affect and saw a barrage of goals going in. The game ended 17 - 0 but could have been a real cricket score! The lads kept their discipline and continued to play total football.
Ansari was a handful for the opposition and took his 2 goals well. M.O.M. was another hard decision but Ferguson for me was unstoppable and possibly scored the goal of the tour after a dazzling spell of football and a mazy run from the half way line beating 3 players and curling the ball into the corner of the goal which the keeper had no chance of reaching.

Scorers tonight were: Watson x 3, Thomson x 1, Tinker x 1, Day x 2, Cameron x 1, Basford x 1, Ansari x 2, Ferguson x 2, Reid x 3 and 1 x own goal
