REMEMBER HOLLAND AN EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Guess Who' skipping training on the frosty mornings

Hi Mum it's me

Safety boots and insoles for warmth in Holland are not required, as the CLOGS do the job for all aspects of health and safety in the workshop.

Chicken in a basket, dont eat the eggs at the cheese factory, this is where they " lay theirs."

Vast canal networks are in place to transport goods around towns and villages.

They said reduce and recycle, well I've reduced the number of travelers by recycling their passports.

That's a large Hairdryer

Wind power for natural energy sources.

Cheese making and tasting facilities major tourist centres are around Holland.

Full sized top class pitches at all amateur and professional clubs all around Holland

A memory about the tour that no one will forget

The Calm after the "Storm"

Well after a very successful week of mixed emotions and game results, all 3 teams come home with victory in each of the Masterclass sessions and Tournament. It was decided by all 3 coaches that instead of just winning they would develop their games into a 2 sided training session, where some of the training would be used in the game.

The Juniors lifting their trophy with a great win against tough opponents, had to be the driving force for the senior team to get their Gold medals and they did not disappoint.

A well drilled senior side scored 1st to take the lead and defended very well, however the Manchester schools team came back and had 3 men jump over the line to give the Webster's Goalie little chance, 1-1 and game on however both teams defended their last 5 minutes to go into a 5 shot penalty shoot out - The rest is History - with Webster's scoring in Sudden Death to win the Tournament outright.

More to follow as the photos will be uploaded on this page for about 2 months, thereafter the Blog will be closed and a members only site opened which will be password protected.

Keep Blogging.

The "Storm" did come at Edinburgh on the way home as the pilot touched down he was taken by surprise, a cross wind blew away at the plane 10m from landing , therefore making the captain take off again at speed.
We were sure that he was on the PlayStation 2 game "Pilot" at the time. The second attempt was pulled off without a hitch.

Mr Robb Gives Pre Tournament prediction at Amsterdam Arena

Captain Watson recieving the championship silverware and Winners medal, Masterclass 2007

A delighted Tour Leader after a treble success at Masterclass Tournament in Holland 2007 waiting for the press conference!!!

MacDonald scores the winning penalty in a tense 5 shoot out, at the end of a 1-1 Final game of the tournament, however, the score was still drawn after the 5 shots. Without any doubt after his miss in a previous game, Callum took to the spot with confidence oozing, he drove the penalty home, into the top corner - to win the game after the opposition Captain and Manchester United Schools player, hit Dobbie's gloves with a great thump. The crowd from all 3 schools were cheering and rooting for Webster's as the lads had forged good mates, after playing some magnificent attacking football throughout their stay in Holland. Their reputation as the unknown team is now that of respect and comradeship as the Final was played.

An emphatic win by the boys means that they were also crowned:

Websters Girls Do it in style

Webster’s Girls Remain Unbeaten

Webster’s junior girls team finish off their tour of Holland on Thursday. The match started, it became apparent that the opponents had some good players especially in attach. They created a number of chances in the first 10 minutes causing the Webster’s defence all sorts of problems.

Hart- Winks, Taylor, Jacobson, Burke and Thain rode their luck but eventually managed to weather the storm and formed a basis to work from the energetic midfield, Winters, Dutch, Hamilton and Laing began to take control. A number of great chances were created but unfortunately not taken till live wire Kilcoyne struck in the 20th minute.
Simply the best

WHS lead was doubled shortly after this though Kilcoyne through the re start, Hamilton drove home to make it 3 Kilcoyne completed her hat rick just before half time with another good strike. An unbelievable half time score that did not match the even nature of the game. Despite warnings at half time Webster’s started the 2nd half slowly and immediately lost a goal due to complacency in defence.

This was a wake up call needed to produce on of the finest 2nd halves of football that WHS has experienced, Kilcoyne bagged 3 to finish with 6 and Hamilton 2 to finish with four.
The pick of the bag, however, being a great sweeping move deep inside their own half involving Winter, Laing and Dutch finishing with Hamilton from the edge of the box.

Best on the day were Kilcoyne Hamilton Taylor and Hart- Winks

S.E.T. Masterclass Player of the tournament was Cheryl Kilcoyne.

WHS players of the tournament Zoe Winter and Cheryl Kilcoyne

Most Improved Amy Taylor and Robyn Hart- Winks

A Fantastic Team performance by all 13 players.

"We Are The Champions"

Herrons Hero's

With a strong performance last night and a fine show at training this morning the team went into tonight’s match in a confident mood. The team travelled to F.C. Zoetemeer and it would be fair to say that on arrival the boys were in shock and all of the facilities there. You could not see the furthest pitch from the clubhouse there was so many pitches at the complex. The facilities had three generation, 3 astroturf pitches and 4 grass pitches. Our game was on pitch 1 and it was evident from kick off that it was going to be another good night.
Brough and Smart worked up and down the right flank to great affect providing good possession and support throughout the game. Watson and Ferguson again dominated in the middle and were involved in every play. Thomson and Tinker much like their counterparts on the other wing worked very hard and could not be contained by the opposition.
At centre back positions MacDonald and Basford won ball and initiated every attack with good accurate passing.

Ansari, Farquharson and Day came on early to good affect and continued on from their performance of the previous night. Up front Cameron and Reid reeked havoc and the opposition had no answer to their subtle movement patterns. Dobbie remains untested yet but outstanding performances in training bode well for tougher games tomorrow at the tournament. The first half only saw 6 goals go in but the opposition keeper made some world class saves to keep the score down. In the second half goal after goal was rained in and allowed an opportunity to further implement techniques learned in training today.

During the second half a number of players were played out of position to give them experience of different roles and duties on the pitch. This worked to great affect and saw a barrage of goals going in. The game ended 17 - 0 but could have been a real cricket score! The lads kept their discipline and continued to play total football.
Ansari was a handful for the opposition and took his 2 goals well. M.O.M. was another hard decision but Ferguson for me was unstoppable and possibly scored the goal of the tour after a dazzling spell of football and a mazy run from the half way line beating 3 players and curling the ball into the corner of the goal which the keeper had no chance of reaching.

Scorers tonight were: Watson x 3, Thomson x 1, Tinker x 1, Day x 2, Cameron x 1, Basford x 1, Ansari x 2, Ferguson x 2, Reid x 3 and 1 x own goal

Man of the match - Ryan Ferguson

Most improved player Anmar Al-Ansari

Jenkin’s Juniors Taste Glory

With yesterday’s second half in mind, the boys started off this game warmed up and ready for action. Straight from the kick-off, it was clear that the boys wanted to make amends and play the football that they are capable of. They passed the ball well and kept possession for long periods of time, and this positive play was soon rewarded with our first shot at goal, which was saved by the Dutch ‘keeper. This gave our boys the confidence they needed to believe that victory was ours for the taking.
Another excellent piece of play from the Webster’s youngsters resulted in another fine save by the dutch ‘keeper, but this time Euan ‘dicer’ Dyce was lurking at the back post to slot the ball home giving the boys their first goal on international turf.

This then started a near one sided period of play resulting in numerous shots on goal, but the Dutch ‘keeper was having the game of his life and was being very stubborn and refusing to let any more goals in.
After another barrage of shots and now the posts joining in to prevent the ball crossing the line, man of the match, Robbie Luxford, worked his magic on the left wing (just like a young Ryan Giggs) and slotted the ball into Ewen Matthew, who saw a glimpse of a chink in the dutch ‘keepers armour and slammed the ball past the keeper for a two – nil advantage.
Webster’s Juniors continued to pile on the pressure, again reaping no reward, until Ewen Matthew picked the ball up about 40 yards from goal, dribbled into the wide open space and rocketed a 25 yarder into the back of Dutch net to go into half time with a three nil lead.
The boys started the second half a bit slow and let the opposition get their first shot on target, but Kyle Morrice, had managed to stay focused and gathered the ball with ease.
This was the wake up call we needed and we then changed gear and started to play as they had the first half. Again, the Dutch ‘keeper was not letting goals in easily and the boys shooting began to fade and we knew we were not going to extend our lead. The Dutch boys found the feet and passed the ball around a bit and managed to hit an unstoppable shot into our net.
All the team played exceptionally well and on another day we would have hit double figures, but at the end of the day, the boys thoroughly deserved the victory and we are looking forward to the final tournament tomorrow.

(Goal Scorers)

Ewan Mathew 2
Euan Dyce 1

Robbie Luxford was deserved man of the match (M.O.M.)

The final score was a credible 3-1 to Websters

Glorious Girl's Victory

On arrival the team were amazed to discover the size of the community team S.V. Scheveningen and magnificent facilities with numerous all weather tennis courts, football pitches (under floodlight) and an indoor sports centre with a 500 seat stadium which catered for a variety of other sports. All of these facilities were of the highest standard and appeared to have full participation from the local community.

Numerous chances were created in the opening ten minute spell with the opposition keeper producing many fine saves. The deadlock was broken after good build up between Winter, Dutch and Kilcoyne allowed Hamilton to blast home from ten yards. Shortly afterwards Winter and Hamilton’s superbly struck shots were unlucky to hit the post. Webster’s lead was doubled when the ever alert Winter blasted home from the tightest of angles. S.V. Scheveningen looked dangerous on the break but the Webster’s defence of Hart-Winks, Burke, Taylor and Jacobsen always looked rock solid. At half time Webster’s retired the dressing room with a well worked

2 – 0 lead.

The second half was totally dominated by a very strong Webster’s performance and it was no surprise when “sniffer which weather tennis courts, football pitches (under floodlight) a supreme” Kilcoyne bagged 2 well taken goals. The Midfield of Smith, Winter, Hamilton and Dutch were completely dictating the game and the opposition were forced to defend for lengthy periods. It was very encouraging to have strong performances by newcomers Laing and Campbell.

P.O.M. Jill Hamilton.

Most improved players were Sam Jacobsen and Amy Taylor

Score 4 - 0

Half time 2 - 0

The training from the Master class coach – Rob
Gave the girls a massive confidence boost and Phil commented “If we had a full week of this type of coaching with a tournament at the end, we would have a better idea if the training was working effectively."

Watson's Winners, Mr Herrons Match Report

With a slightly shorter commute the senior team was hosted by Vitesse Delft some 45 minutes bus journey from Noordvijk. From departure it was clear the team was well up for this fixture and they did not disappoint. Mike the lad's coach for the week kept us company on our journey and inspired the team pre-match. This match was always going to require a big performance to get the campaign off to a good start and the lads certainly didn't disappoint from the first kick. Webster's quickly established a stranglehold on the game and never let this go.
Oozing confidence and demonstrating dazzling skill and total football the lads quickly opened their account through Stuart Reid who scored a predatory goal capitalising on a very good parried save by their keeper. This was followed by 3 very quick scores and yet more flamboyant play. Smart and Al-Ansari provided pace and made life extremely difficult and caused numerous problems with slick play and good support through their wide positions. MacDonald and Day were like the great wall of China in defence and provided an option for attack from depth and the maintenance of possession rather than cover at the back.

At full back positions Farquharson and Brough made excellent overlapping runs with the midfield and regularly got forward and made a menace of themselves. Up front Reid and Cameron were uncontrollable for the hosts. In the middle Watson and Ferguson commanded their troops and controlled the game from start to finish. Dobbie prowled his box and barked orders but only saw the ball once and it was more a case of staying warm.

Thomson, Tinker and Basford injected pace and fresh legs after 15 minutes and outstanding link up play by Thomson and hard graft was evident from his introduction. Basford and Tinker stepped in at centre back positions and continued on as MacDonald and Day had done previously. Basford played with much improved confidence and this meant he was heavily involved in build up play. Tinker sprayed pinpoint accurate passes and took a well deserved goal. At half time the score was 7 - 0.

The second half continued much as the first had and Dobbie came outfield to right back and MacDonald took over as keeper. Webster's ran out final winners 11 - 0 with goals from: Day x 5, Tinker x 1, Ferguson x 1, Reid x 2, Thomson x 1 and Watson x 1. Such a strong performance meant techniques and skills learned in training could be put into action in the game situation. Furthermore, players positions could also be rotated and explored to provide strength and depth for future games. Mike who is the lads coach travelled along and was very impressed by the standard of play.

After match discussion meant a very tough choice for the man of the match award. However, with a captains performance and strong leadership Watson was awarded M.O.M. Most improved player was Basford. Big thanks to Mum and Dad for the new boots! An outstanding result, here's hoping for tomorrow night's game and the tournament on Thursday.

Mr Jenkins team report

GDA F.C. was the destination for the junior team, where a 2 hour journey did no favours for the result, the team ended up losing 3 goals in quick succession from kick off, however, they played their hearts out in the second half to only lose 1 other goal, near misses and decisions against for offside led to an unfortunate loss 4-0. The team performance deserved a lot more, as they look forward to their masterclass session tomorrow.

On the way back to the Hotel the team decided to figure out what GDA stood for. As you can see from their back row, a team decision was made and GIANT Dutch actors was voted in.

A great result considering the team dynamics and mixed ability versus the oppositions size and strength.

The photo above demonstrates the team spirit as they were all considered worthy of men of the match.

Match reports and scores from this evenings games 23/10/07

3 games were played around 2 hours drive from the Hotels, with mixed fortunes.

The Girls team played Woerden F.C. (VEP) and did a fantastic job, coming away with a draw at 2-2 they rallied round and gave a massive team performance, however their was one clear winner of the player of the match award - Zoe Winter who lead by example as the team captain. 2 goals came from Cheryl Kilcoyne that earned the team a very well fought out draw.

Pictured here is Zoe - Captain and Player of the match, however the team are added above due to their outstanding ability and support play. Well Done Girls!!
